Things to do in the area

After learning to surf with us at Walkin’ on Water Surf School, there are a variety of activities to fill your time.

  

If you have worked up a hunger or a thirst we are situated adjacent to the Greenmount Beach Tweed Heads and Coolangatta Surf Club. Upstairs is a bar and restaurant with a balcony that has some of the best views in town, with an amazing aspect looking straight up the coast all the way to Surfers Paradise. As psrt of our lesson the Show bag all participants receive includes a 15% off Voucher for eating in the Surf Club Restaurant where the meals are sensational, cooked by the Greenmount Beach Club chefs, headed by the master head chef Glen and the other the chefs and kitchen staff.

On all the beaches you will find a surf club to have a drink or meal in a very relaxing environment.

A few minutes walk away from the Walkin’ on Water truck is the centre of Coolangatta and not much further is Tweed Heads Centro. In these centres there will be a greater range of meals, places to have a drink and shops to browse through.

If you are still feeling active and want to get into more exercise after surfing, there is fishing, sailing, kayaking, the Tweed Heads Rowing Club, swimming, some fantastic places to run and train, tennis, lawn bowls, gyms and weight centres among other things.

Or if you want more water sports, Big Trev and his Watersports in the Jack Evans Boat Harbour, behind Twin Towns Club, has a number of activities to keep you going. Big Trev has his Paddle Boats, Catamarans, Kayaks, Wild Fish Feeding, Sailing and many more suprises. Go and see Big Trev and tell him the Walkin On Water Crew have sent you over.

  

A 10 minute drive up the coast is the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary with its Daily Admission or Wildnight Adventure Tours. As a bonus with surfing with us, you will also receive 10% discount on normal admission prices for Daily Entry or Wildnight Adventures for up to four people.
In the area are the Currumbin Rock Pools. A bit further up north is David Fleays Wildlife Park.

Going more north towards Surfers Paradise which is an easy drive on the Gold Coast Highway are attractions such as Putt Putt Golf at Mermaid Beach, Waterway Cruises at Surfers and on the Broadwater, the Wax Museum at Surfers, Draculas Cabaret Restaurant at Broadbeach next to Pacific Fair which is a huge shopping centre complex, BKs Gold Coast Fishing Charters for Deep Sea Fishing, the Gold Coast Turf Club which is Australia’s busiest racecourse with racing every Saturday and mid week feature events. There is also O’Reillys, situated in the World Heritage Listed Lamington National Park, the Carlton Brew House Brewery Tour.

Plus on the Coast are the well known attractions of Wet n Wild Water World, Movie World, Sea World and Dreamworld.

At night time, there are the surf clubs, clubs, bars, pubs and nightclubs and a variety of restaurants. In Twin Towns Club, there are weekly shows, a gaming area and a number of bars. There is also the BCC 6 cinema complex in the centre of Coolangatta. There is also action a plenty including Jupiters Casino if you’re really feeling luecky!
