Our popular weekly school surfing programs are based on the students having a heap of fun while at the same time learning about the ocean and the surf and building and growing in confidence in being in the surf. They have the chance of becoming proficient in a variety of different of styles of surfing, learning about the ocean and surf and becoming confident in our sensational aquatic playground we have on our doorstep.
We will tailor the program to meet your needs and what you would like your students to learn and understand. As a general program, we cover:
- Basic surfing skills and techniques
- Basic ocean awareness and surf safety
- Basic body surfing skills
- 10 Basic Surf Safety rules
Introducing a number of different types of boards and body surfing into our sessions and having them available for the children, gives them great choice as to what they would like to play and catch waves on and gives them the ability to change throughout the sessions.
The children all have a fantastic time and it also teaches them many new skills and helps them gain the important confidence in the ocean and waves.
We can also provide intermediate and advanced School Surfing Programs if you have surfers that are at this level. We are able to offer schools a variety of different types of programs to fit into the needs of the individual schools programs and projected outcomes.

We have been using Walkin’ on Water’s surf skills program for the past 11 years. They offer a highly engaging and educational program covering surfing skills, water awareness and ocean safety. Our students love their summer surf lessons and it is great to see not only their surf skills improve but to also watch their confidence grow. Walkin’ on Water’s staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to offer a program that our teachers don’t have the confidence to deliver. I highly recommend Jamo and his team. Fiona, St Josephs Primary School, Tweed Heads
CHAC has been utilising the exceptional services of Walkin’ on Water for 10 Years. In that time they have always impressed in the way they can deliver courses in line with a dynamic curriculum and differing student needs and abilities.
Working with professionals such as Jamo, Dan and their crew adds to the learning experience by making it fun and engaging. Whether it be considering the forces of nature and wave types, beach safety or learning how to negotiate a rip current our Oceanography students always leave the coast wiser and better equipped with real educational outcomes and enhanced life skills. THPS has been surfing with WOW for around 10 years, and wouldn’t go anywhere else! We have always appreciated the professionalism and enthusiasm we encounter through WOW. The communication about the program from Jamo and Dan is always quick and positive, and the communication from Dan and the coaches towards the kids is at their level and very friendly and welcoming. The kids enjoy every aspect of their lessons and look forward to coming again the next time. Several students continue their lessons on after the program has finished as they are so keen and confident. The program really supports a range of abilities by making the students feel safe and respected, and they feel confident and excited about having a go and challenging themselves. The coaches take safety very seriously and this is a great comfort to all teachers, students and parents. I can highly recommend WOW! Sophie, Tweed Heads Public School, Tweed Heads
To any school considering this program; Walkin on Water’s Learn to Surf course is an excellent activity for school children. Our group of teenage boys were fully engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Walkin on Water developed an instant rapport with the group and led the boys through sequential and safe activities for all to progress and achieve success in the surf. Walkin on Water’s staff allowed safety in the surf as well as providing regular and positive feedback to help the surfers. It was a great introduction for those who have never surfed before and for those with some experience, their skills were fine-tuned to allow further progress. Coupled with the Surf Rescue program, the camp was full of variety with theory and practical sessions. And best of all, the boys were keen to go to sleep at night!! Thanks Walkin on Water for a fun and enjoyable week. We would fully recommend the Walkin on Water surf programs to any school.John Anderson
